Story: Ship of Tears
Written By: J. Michael Straczynski
Season: 3
Bester makes his way to Babylon 5 via a Starfury and attempts to form an alliance with the B5 crew, and stop a convoy of Shadow ships that are supposedly carrying weapons. They are able to catch up with the Shadows and attack and manage to get the supposed ship carrying weapons...but they aren’t carrying weapons...they are carrying cryogenically frozen telepaths. And the one they uncover first just happens to be Bester’s lover. When Bester realizes what the Shadows have done to these telepaths, including the woman carrying his child (!) he decides that this was with the Shadows is now his war.
It is a decent episode that also brings G’Kar officially into the new alliance, but not after Delenn admits that when he first discovered the Shadows, she knew exactly what they were..and that it was either let the Centauri take over Narn, or have the entire planet destroyed by the Shadows. G’Kar is understandably hurt by this revelation, but he joins the council anyway.
In the end Garibaldi, using the book G’Kar gave him a while back, realizes that the Shadows ships can be disrupted by Telepaths...hence how they were able to so easily get the ship from that convoy...Bester was on board. It also explains why the Shadows have been infiltrating PsiCorps with their alliance with Earth, to neutralize them as a weapon.
Then the Shadows begin openly attacking worlds...they are no longer hiding. The fan is certainly about to be covered in shit.
