Story: Epiphanies
Written By: J. Michael Straczynski
Season: 4
Garibaldi receives a coded psychedelic message, and soon after he resigns as Chief of Security. Everyone tries to talk him out of it, but he has made up his mind. With him resigning, Zach Allen has taken over as the Chief. Chances are this is part of that Psi Corps programming. Hey speaking of Psi Corps, Bester is sent to the station from Earth. He has information he is supposed to give, and other information that will help the B5 crew, which he will give only in exchange for them freeing his lover that got all screwed up by the Shadows. The only way to free her is with Shadow technology, so he pretty much uses his information as a means to go to Z’ha’dum and get that technology so she can be freed.
Unfortunately for Bester, when they get there they see several ships abandoning the planet (possibly Dark Servants of the Shadows), and then Z’ha’dum explodes. Sorry Bester, you’re fucked, she’s never coming back. He kinda deserves this. It’s possible Lyta is the cause of them detecting the White Star and their subsequent evacuation and planet explosion.
Bester insinuates, when he is talking to his cryogenically frozen girlfriend, that he may have lost his chance to save her, but he still has plans that can hurt B5 in the end. We’ll see where this leads. Meanwhile we have EarthGov and the President planning to take down the station, and then we have Centauri Prime, where we find that the Centauri Regent, that Londo left in charge when he returned to Babylon 5, has a Keeper (which we saw future Londo had in “War Without End”). Are these the Dark Servants of the Shadows?
