Story: The Deconstruction of Falling Stars

The finale to season 4 is pretty different than most finales, in fact it is pretty different from most episodes of this series. So originally the series looked as if it was going to be cancelled due to PTEN’s imminent closure. A series finale was shot, but then TNT decided to give Babylon 5 a fifth and final season on their network. So Straczynski wanted to save his original finale for the actual end of the show, so he held back on that episode and then wrote a new finale for Season 4. The results are this interesting, if detached, look at the future of the new Interstellar Alliance through the framing of these beings Records from a distant future, looking at many highlights of the Alliance though the centuries.
Some are interesting, some are not, but the end in which a human turns into a ball of light and gets into a suit similar to that of the Vorlons was intriguing. As a finale, “Rising Star” was better, but this was a decent epilogue to the Interstellar Alliance thing.
