Gods or Monsters

Story: Falling Toward Apotheosis
Written By: J. Michael Straczynski
Season: 4

Sheridan is back and things should be returning to normal, but things can never return to normal for the folks on Babylon 5.  Sheridan and co. concoct a plan to remove the current Vorlon Ambassador from the station, to prevent him from gaining any info now that the Vorlons are destroying whole planets to stop the Shadows and the B5 gang pretty much has to fight the Vorlons too.
So Sheridan creates a plan that has to leave some people in the dark, which really pisses off Garibaldi who has been nothing but pissy about everything, particularly Sheridan’s new friend Lorien, since he got back from his capture. I suspect that this is all leading towards something sinister that the Psi Corps did to him.  So Garibaldi and a small group of Security guys go to ask the Vorlon to leave, even though they know this won’t work and it could lead to all the security guys getting hurt or dead.

Sheridan’s real plan is concocted with Lorien, in which Sheridan confronts this Vorlon guy when he’s all pissed and somehow Sheridan or Lorien removes the piece of Kosh lost inside Sheridan and it starts battling the ghostly innards of the Vorlon ambassador in a big special effects extravaganza which shoots out of the Vorlon and into the Vorlon ship...which explodes.  I’m gonna be honest, I was entirely sure what was going on, or how it all happened...but it was fun to watch.

On Centauri Prime, the Emperor is fine with the idea of the Vorlons destroying their homeworld, because he is convinced he is going to be made a God and will not be here when it happens so fuck it.  Londo is freaked, because he is there, and will die, so he concocts a plan to have G’Kar leave the planet, so someone who survives can know of the Emperors Godhood. The Emperor agrees, but plucks out one of G’Kar’s eyes before he takes off.  I also thnk the plan might involve the Emperor accompanying G’Kar to Narn, so it ties in with Londo’s assassination plans.  To be honest so much happens in these latest episodes I think I just lost track if that was the case.

In lighter news that doesn’t involves killing Vorlons, destroying planets, or eyes being ripped out...Sheridan tells Delenn that whatever helped him live on Z’ha’dum has given him a limited life span, 20 more years or so (barring accidents). This doesn’t seem like lighter news...but Sheridan proposes marriage to Delenn, saying he wants to spend what time he has left with her.  Classy move dude.

Solid action episode that furthers the plotlines of the season thus far, I enjoyed it, even if I kind of feel like I missed something of the Londo/G’Kar storyline while so much was happening.

NEXT TIME: Cartagia’s End
