Franklin and the Singer

Story: Walkabout
Written By: J. Michael Straczynski
Season: 3

A new Vorlon Ambassador comes to the station, he does not give his name, but they are all supposed to refer to him as Kosh. Lyta shows up on the station as well, hoping to figure out something about what happened to Kosh.  She meets with the new Kosh..and he shows he is a bit darker than the last Kosh by chocking her telepathically for not being there to protect or help old Kosh when he was murdered.
Dr. Franklin, meanwhile, is on a walkabout after having resigned.  He is wandering in downbelow and walks into some dive bar and falls for a singer.  They do the nasty and she asks him for medicine, but giving his recent drug problems he isn’t too keen on getting that for her...but it turns out she is actually sick, and needed actual medicine.  Way to screw up that relationship!  It’s a kind of introspective story in this episode, with Franklin trying to find himself after his recent revelations about his addiction.

Sheridan asks the recently arrived Lyta to accompany him on the White Star with a skeleton crew to test this new telepath knowledge against the Shadows.  She agrees, and Deleen offers a Minbar ship for support, and G’Kar says he will try to get a Narn ship.  The Narns don’t really want to waste the ship in their condition, hoping to save up energy and manpower to take back their homeworld.  Garibaldi convinces G’Kar to be a damn leader and make his men go.  It’s damn important.

Lyta was able to stop the Shadow ship, especially after discovering they were responsible for Kosh’s murder, but she loses a lot of energy in the process.  The White Star is sort of stuck for 20 minutes, which is a real shame since the Shadow’s ship sent a message to others.  Luckily G’Kar shapes up and brings a bunch of ships, and the Minbari help to take down another Shadow ship...and the rest just run the fuck away.  It’s about time somebody else ran the fuck away.

Decent episode, the Franklin stuff was important but felt slightly subdued, while the White Star mission was very important and entertaining.
