Babylon 5 - Season 3 Recap

Season One was kind of a chore, but I didn’t give up.  Season Two was a definite improvement, better all around...but Season Three was damn fine dramatic television.  There was an episode here or there that didn’t really do it for me, but those were mostly standalones...when this show focused it’s energies on the character and story arcs...it was always top notch this year.  It wa salso the first year in which every single episode was written by Show Creator J. Michael Straczynski.  He nailed it.

The series took big swings and knocked it out of the park several times.  It started off continuing the major storylines that were left hanging in Season Two, then it goes further by wrapping up several storylines and character arcs that began in Season One and Two, including giving a conclusion to Jeffrey Sinclair.  Things got wrapped up to really start taking the series in a new direction.

They’ve cut ties to Earth, they’ve really begun to form new alliances, they’ve engaged the Shadows, even seemingly hurting them for a while, and they’ve done a number of things to really change gears for the show in many different ways.  They might’ve even killed off their lead (though I’m sure that’s not the case, seeing as they gave him an out...and I’ve seen images of future seasons).

Seriously...this was a terrific season, the best so far, I’d be very pleased to see if they could top it.
