Face from the Past

Story: Z’ha’dum
Written By: J. Michael Straczynski
Season: 3

Anna Sheridan returns to her husband, having long been presumed dead, and kind of disrupts the relationship between Sheridan and Delenn.  She casts doubt in Sheridan’s mind about Delenn, making him wonder is she knew Anna could’ve survived, but Delenn points out that she and Kosh believed that anyone who did not serve the Shadows would have been killed.
Finally Franklin finds something on Anna, and he gives the info to Sheridan.  Sheridan then makes his choice...he is going to go to Z’ha’dum with Anna, and he enlists the help of Garibaldi.  Sheridan goes on the empty White Star, and Anna takes him to Morden and an old man named Justin...and they explain that the Vorlons would try to guide races into what they felt was right, while the Shadows (whose real name is unpronounceable) would try to drive evolution through conflict, those who survived would be stronger, and would build a better world.

It was clear from the moment Sheridan left that he had some kind of scheming plan, that he wasn’t just following Anna.  Despite the claims of Kosh that if he ever went to Z’ha’dum he would die, and that the Future Delenn warned him to not go there, he’s decided that maybe if he goes he can still end the war yet prevent the future of a destroyed Centauri Prime.  He tells Delenn in a delayed video message that he is going, how he hopes it will work out, and that he loves her.

The shadows converge on Babylon 5, but they retreat, right after Sheridan commands the White Star to crash in to the Shadow City...with two nukes on board that G’Kar just provided to the Alliance (he provided many, but noticed that two had been stolen).  Sheridan is suspected dead, but Kosh’s voice is heard just before the White Star goes off, and he tells Sheridan to jump.

I suspect he lives, we will see. Garibaldi has apparently taken off in a Starfury
