Story: Midnight on the Firing Line
Written By: J. Michael Straczynski
Season: 1
The beginning of “Babylon 5’s” first season sees some notable changes from the pilot. Susan Ivanova replaces Takashima (who was stiff and boring and terrible anyhow), and Talia Winters replaces Lyta Alexander. This second replacement seems less thrilling to me as Lyta wasn’t too bad, but Talia is boring from her beginning here and throughout the rest of this season. She disappears for several episodes too (though that admittedly happens to a few characters this season).
The episode itself revolves around a Narn attack on a Centauri outpost of Ragesh 3, and Londo is understandably upset with G’Kar and the Narns for this assault...particularly as Londo had his own nephew placed at this outpost purely to keep him out of danger.
This is a solid episode, definitely better than the pilot, but there are still some growing pains this show had to endure before truly climbing out of the hole.
